Who We Are:
                 
Founded in 1971, Leisureworld Caregiving Centres is the third largest owner and operator of long term care homes in Ontario with 28 homes (26 long term care homes, 1 independent living home, and 1 retirement home) and with 4,314 beds and approximately 5000 employees. It is a leader in providing quality care and creating an environment where residents and clients enjoy life to the fullest.

Leisureworld is owned by the Macquarie Group (specifically Macquarie International Infrastructure Fund and Macquarie Power and Infrastructure Income Fund.)

History:                            
1971
– Herman Grad purchases Spencer House, a 37 bed retirement home, and with reconstruction, also provided long term care
1981 – Herman Grad purchases Leisureworld Inc., which includes 3 long term care homes in Scarborough, North Bay and St. George Street in downtown Toronto
1983 – Leisureworld acquires Barrie location
1986 – Leisureworld acquires Brantford location
1992– Leisureworld acquires Creedan Valley in Creemore
1996 – Leisureworld acquires in Gravenhurst
2000 – Leisureworld constructs 5 new homes – Elmira, O’Connor Court, O’Connor Gate, Etobicoke and Lawrence
2003 – Leisureworld constructs 5 more homes in one year – Brampton Woods, Brampton Meadows, Norfinch, Ellesmere and Richmond Hill
2004 – Leisureworld constructs Vaughan location
2005 – Herman Grad sells Leisureworld to the Macquarie Group, one of the largest global investors and managers of infrastructure assets. COO David Cutler is appointed CEO and Martin Liddel is appointed CFO
2006 – Leisureworld constructs Orillia home
2008– Leisureworld acquires 7 more homes in primarily the GTA (Altamont, Mississauga, Streetsville, Cheltenham, Oxford, Rockcliffe and Tullamore) and becomes the third largest owner and operator of long term care homes in Ontario
